Sounds Australia has been producing showcases at The Great Escape Festival for 15 years - and in 2024, with the support of Tourism @Australia and the Australian High Commission UK, we’ll be presenting two Australia Sounds Like showcases: on Thursday May 16 at Komedia and Saturday May 18 on Brighton Beach.

We’re so excited that @triple_j will be joining us in Brighton, interviewing artists and capturing the vibe for everyone back home.

What a terrific few days we had immersed in Jazz Music in Bremen, Germany for the annual @jazzaheadde conference and festival! We were proud to be representing Australia on the trade fair floor with @ausmusiccentre and host “Meet The Australians” networking events through the week.

Before SXSW last month, Glenny and Dom led our first ever trade mission to Mexico.

After hearing about the increasing opportunities for Australian music in the country, it was amazing to travel to Mexico with representatives of 12 Australian artists and music businesses to learn more about the scenes and the industry there.

Our first stop was @FIM_GDL in Guadalajara, followed by networking events and site visits in Mexico City. A huge thank you to @themalfico and @movidamusica for coordinating our activities in Guadalajara and CDMX respectively.

We rounded out the trip with an event at the residence of Australia's Ambassador to Mexico, Ms Rachel Moseley, and we want to send another muchas gracias to the Ambassador and her team for hosting us.

We're incredibly excited by the opportunities for Australian artists and music businesses in Mexico and we can't wait to return (and not just for the tacos, either).

A surprise collaboration and the only father-son duo at @SXSW 2024? What an awesome second day of our Sounds Australia Presents showcase.

Taking place in Australia House @ SXSW, presented by the American Australian Association, Day Two of our showcase played host to 15 Australian acts who performed across two stages.

You may have seen the photos that we posted yesterday from the showcase. Today we have more shots for you of Alice Ivy, Elle Shimada, Flewnt & Inkabee, Folk Bitch Trio, Forest Claudette, Ivoris, Sycco and Wesley Dean.

There was also a surprise collaboration, with Alice Ivy and Sycco performing their track 'Weakness', and we closed out with Flewnt and Inkabee, who we're pretty sure were the only father-son duo at SXSW 2024.

Despite the threat of storms, nothing could rain on the good vibes of Day Two of our Sounds Australia Presents showcase at SXSW earlier this month.

We kicked off the day with The @BIGSOUND Brunch, featuring stellar performances from Alexander Biggs, Asha Jefferies, Bones and Jones, Carla Geneve and yb. (presumably fueled by the excellent coffee on offer in Australia House from @bluestonelane - because it's a brunch, after all).

The blue skies appeared over Austin, we opened up the Front Yard stage, and our showcase continued with Elle Shimada, Great Aunt (aka "Shit Uncle", IYKYK) and Miss Kaninna.

Tomorrow we'll post the rest of the artists from Day Two of the Sounds Australia Presents showcase at Australia House @ SXSW, presented by the American Australian Association.

Throughout the day we asked a whole bunch of people what Australia sounds like to them. We loved what people told us so we wanted to share some of our favourite answers. A big thanks to @smilebooth for the camera so we could capture these.

We'll be back again tomorrow in Australia House, presented by the American Australian Association (@_aaausa), on Rainey St. The showcase will kick off at 11am with The @Bigsound Brunch, before continuing on with performances until 6:30pm.

Here are the set times for our @SXSW showcases next week.

30 Australian artists will showcase across two days in Australia House @ SXSW (77 Rainey St, Austin), presented by the American Australian Association (@_aaausa), starting at 11am on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 March.

We're extremely excited to welcome @BIGSOUND back to Australia House and they'll be presenting The BIGSOUND Brunch from 10am - 3pm on the Friday.

@triple_j will also be there, chatting to the artists and the crowd, and taking stories of SXSW back home to Australian audiences.

We had such a wonderful time in Kansas City with almost a dozen incredible Australian artists across an official showcase, three nights in our Private Showcase room (with the @nzmusiccommission) and a number of networking events.

It was all part of the annual Folk Alliance International @folk_alliance conference.

Here’s just a taste of the action!

Thanks to everyone who took part, and all the delegates who came out to see this talent in action. We’re already counting down the days until the 2025 event, returning to Montreal for the first time since 2019.

The Australians are coming to @SXSW in Austin, Texas!

Next month, 30 Australian acts will travel to the USA to showcase at one of the largest music events in the world.

And we’ll be returning too! We’re hosting two showcases at AUSTRALIA HOUSE @ SXSW 2024, presented by The American Australian Association (@_aaausa). Located at 77 Rainey St, Sounds Australia’s official showcases offer a chance for those at SXSW to discover a raft of exciting Australian talent on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th March.

Having previously partnered in 2018, we’re thrilled to have @Bigsound back in AUSTRALIA HOUSE @ SXSW. BIGSOUND is one of Australia’s biggest and best music showcase festivals, and in 2024 they’ll host The BIGSOUND Brunch on Friday 15th March from 10am - 3pm.

We’re incredibly excited that @triple_j will also be joining us to capture content and artist interviews, bringing the stories of Australian music success back home.

In partnership with the AAM (Association Of Artist Managers), we're thrilled to announce the Music Australia International Conference Contribution - Managers program.

Designed to ease the financial burden for selected managers who are attending major international music conferences in 2024, ICC funding will financially support selected managers who represent artists with demonstrated potential in a specific international market, so the manager can undertake an invaluable reconnaissance trip - and/or be present on-ground to maximise outcomes for their showcasing artists - at a major international music conference, during a critical moment in their artists' international career.

Divided into three rounds across the year, managers will be able to apply for up for $5000 AUD.

Round 1 is open now for managers interested in attending SXSW or Jazzahead. To apply, hit the link in our bio. Applications close midnight AEDT, Sunday February 18.

We're very excited to announce that we're hosting

We're very excited to announce that we're hosting our first ever export workshop at the Tamworth Country Music Festival (@TCMF_Official) on Friday 26 January, in partnership with @NATSIM0 and the @CMAAOfficial.

The workshop will have two parts - a Sounds Australia export masterclass and a panel featuring experts in country music, giving you insights into what it takes as an Australian artist to rise through the noise internationally.

This is for artists, songwriters and industry of every level working in the Country, Americana, Folk and Singer-Songwriter spaces.

A huge congratulations to @rvg____ who are the win

A huge congratulations to @rvg____ who are the winners of this year's prestigious @australianmusicprize for their third record Brain Worms.

We had the pleasure of getting a preview of some of the songs off this incredible album earlier this year when the band showcased with us at @sxsw in Austin, Texas in March, and then followed it up with showcases at @greatescapefest in Brighton, UK and THE AUSSIE BBQ London in May.

As their prize, RVG will take home $30,000.

Previous winners of the AMP include The Avalanches, A.B. Original, Courtney Barnett, Genesis Owusu, King Stingray and Sampa The Great.

Congratulations to all the other nominees of this year's AMP: Angie McMahon, Floodlights, Genesis Owusu, Gretta Ray, Jen Cloher, Mo'Ju, Polaris and Troye Sivan - each of these Australian artists released fantastic albums that are definitely worth your time as well.

The iconic label, founded by a true legend of the Australian music scene, the late, great Michael Gudinski, celebrated 50 years of music with a stellar show in Melbourne last night.

Michael Gudinksi wholeheartedly loved and believed in Australian music. Over the years we've had many Mushroom artists showcase with us, and we're proud to have helped support Michael and the label's vision and passion by putting them on global stages.
