For ten years, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA has played an integral part in fast-tracking the success stories of many of the country’s most globally recognised and adored artists. The all-Australian line ups are known throughout the world as one of the key platforms for discovering new talent – and in 2019, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA will return to Austin, Texas to bolster the presence of Australian artists and music industry at South by Southwest.
After the success of its inaugural year, Australia House (aka Lucille on Rainey Street) will once again showcase our most exciting creatives, innovators, artists, and taste makers from March 10 – 15, 2019. Presented by G’DAY USA, Australia House will be the place to find some of Australia’s greatest cultural, entrepreneurial and tech exports under the one roof. And if you need a caffeine hit, there’ll be free coffee flowing all week courtesy of Bluestone Lane Coffee and a2 Milk.
As one of the world’s fastest growing travel websites, we’re thrilled to welcome Luxury Escapes into the SOUNDS AUSTRALIA fold. They will be offering one lucky Australia House attendee a coveted stay at ultra-luxury lodging One&Only Wolgan Valley, located in the stunning Blue Mountains, NSW Australia, worth over $8,000.
It’s shaping up to be another impressive year for Australian music at SXSW with 54 Australian artists showcasing at the festival. You’ll be able to see why our artists are routinely described as some of the best live performers in the world when Australia House plays host to 64 unique performances.
SOUNDS AUSTRALIA will present the world-renowned THE AUSSIE BBQ and SOUND GALLERY, as well as partnering on showcases with The AU Review & Hello Asia, BIGSOUND, Laneway Festival, and Secret Sounds.
SOUNDS AUSTRALIA has worked with Screen Queensland, Global Victoria and the VMDO to provide additional performance opportunities for artists from their respective states early in the week. Both Governments are presenting multifaceted events, showcasing the latest in tech, music and film with Queensland featuring Emerson Snowe, Gabriella Cohen, Geowulf, Golden Vessel and San Mei on Monday evening, whilst Victoria have sets from Amyl & The Sniffers (DJs), Angie McMahon, DRMNGNOW DJ, Mojo Juju, Oh Pep! and Two People on Tuesday.
The Melbourne Hub will also present a late night film session and intimate in-conversation with Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore, director of the groundbreaking documentary Her Sound Her Story, alongside Mojo Juju. Featuring more than 45 artists spanning six decades, Her Sound Her Story unveils the personal experiences, histories and significant social impacts of women in the Australian music industry.
Celebrating their own milestone of 30 years, Nightlife Music returns to SXSW to enhance the audio and visual experience inside Australia House, featuring their award-winning crowdDJ® technology. They’ll be playing the best in Australian music, and throughout THE AUSSIE BBQ you’ll hear artists handpicked by triple j Unearthed.
There will be no better place to find your new favourite act at SXSW than at Australia House.
