“The band have stepped forward as a crew that could easily be the next big thing, taking this explosive, punk-infused energy and injecting it with polish and shine that makes them sound like a band years and years into their career.” – Pilerats
MID CITY have proven in the year since they exploded onto the scene that they’re a force to be reckoned with. Since ‘Old Habits’ hit top #9 most played on triple j (Australia’s national youth radio network), #25 on the German College Radio charts, captured the attention of Ollie Schlutz and hit the Viral Top 50 in both Australia and Germany, there has been a frenzy of attention for the Melbourne band.
It’s clear from their debut EP, released in April this year, that MID CITY don’t hold back. The riffs are immediate and the choruses are anthemic, “…a huge sound that stands out from the crowd right now.” (Nick Findlay, Music Director, triple j). And brand new single ‘Fake Friends Forever’ is their most visceral track yet. ‘Old Habits’ has now clocked over 1.25 million streams across all platforms, received a Clash Mag UK video premiere, and caught the attention of German pop/TV star Ollie Schultz, who shared the track on Instagram and added it to his Spotify playlist ‘Fidi & Bumsi’, sharing it with well over 200k followers.
Tracks from Die Waiting received numerous international playlist additions, including Australian and German Viral 50, Volume (UK), New Noise (US), All New Rock, Local Noise (AUS) and more. Tracks from the EP were also added to rotation across 11+ German stations including 917xfm, FluxFM, MDR Jump, as well as freepicks on BR 2 Zündfunk, BR Puls, DLF Kultur, egoFM, MDR Sputnik, NDR Info, ORF FM4 (AT), Radio Bremen 4, RBB radioeins, SRF 3 (CH).
In conjunction with the single release, the band announced the ‘Fake Friends Forever’ international tour including showcases at BIGSOUND, Reeperbahn Festival, as well as shows in Germany, the UK, The Netherlands and Australia.
