“Helen Townsend may have been late in picking up the tools of her trade, but in a short time she has shown herself to be a master of her craft. Her sweet voice and tender picking rubs against songs that are filled with characters living with the costly results of impulsive choices and memories that just won’t let go.” – Polly Coufos (The Australian)
Helen Townsend has been nominated for West Australian Music Industry (WAM) 2017 Best Country Act and twice for WAM Song of The Year, Country Category, for ‘Streets of Glory’ and ‘Promised Land’, which was co-written with Bill Chambers.
Helen is a songwriter who tells stories as big, open and enduring as the ancient land of Australia that is her home. She will break your heart and save your soul all in the same night. A performer who draws her audience close, Helen’s brand of Americana has already attracted attention across Australia.
Her voice is a unique blend of honey tinged with the warmth of a pure single malt. Drawing on film, literature and her life experiences as inspiration for her songs, Helen threads narratives through her music that are poignant, acutely observed and heartfelt.
Helen is currently recording her debut full length album, due for worldwide release in February 2019.
