Sounds Australia heads offshore for the month
We can feel winter starting to creep up on us, so it’s only fitting we head North, where spring is blooming, and the UK are offering us Australians some seriously warm hospitality in the shape of The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City.
This May, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA is jetting off to Brighton, Liverpool and Singapore, with a pit stop in London for good measure. The Great Escape, on the shores of Brighton, will see seventeen Australian acts take to stages throughout the cobble paved streets from the 12th – 14th May. Ben Salter , Chet Faker, DZ Deathrays, Emma Louise, Husky, Inland Sea, Jackson Firebird, Jinja Safari, Last Dinosaurs, ME, Oliver Tank , POND, Red Ink, Step-Panther, The Killgirls,The Temper Trap and Young Magic are in line to showcase for some of Europe’s top taste makers, as well as keeping in some very impressive company, with a stellar international line up that indicates Australian music really has firmly placed itself on the world map. Full line up details can be found at escapegreat.com/
Breaking up the UK events will be The Aussie BBQ (London). Returning to Cargo after a wildly successful event last year, the amazing folk at Stage Mothers have pulled together an all Australian line up that will offer Londoners a true taste of our local music scene.
The stomping ground for The Beatles and the home of several Banksy’s, Liverpool, will be hosting fifteen Australian acts from 17th – 19th May for Liverpool Sound City. Playing venues all over the city this year will be; Ben Salter, Bonfire Nights, Emma Louise, Inland Sea, Ironside, Jackson Firebird, Jjinja Safari, Last Dinosaurs, Oliver Tank, POND, Sietta, Step-Panther, The Temper Trap, The Bowers and The Jezabels. All our UK activity will come to a close at our Aussie BBQ at Heebie Jeebies on Saturday, 19th May. It will be a full day of live music and fresh snags, kicking off from 11:00am and offering delegates a mini festival of all Australian goodness, before seeing them off to all corners of the globe.
Rounding off the epic month of May will be Music Matters in Singapore. We loved the perfect combination of beer and BBQ so much, we could not refuse the opportunity to take over the Beer Market once again, and putting our Australian showcasing acts front and centre for the night. From 8pm on Thursday, 24th May, Direct Influence, Kate Miller-Heidke, Natasha Duarte, Pandorum and This Sanctuary will take to the stage and see that Singapore gets a taste of our home grown goodness. All this before we dash home in time for SONG SUMMIT!
Be sure to stay up-to-date with all our activity, via facebook and twitter. We’ll be live tweeting from our showcase events and sharing all the positive outcomes and press coverage of Australian artists as they come to light.
If all this talk of going to faraway lands and performing is right up your alley, there are still opportunities to apply for Americana (Nashville), Reeperbahn (Hamburg) and CMJ (NYC). More details can be found at www.soundsaustralia.com.au
